안녕하세요. 미국 워싱턴주립대 WVC TESOL입니다.
오늘 포스팅은 테솔 관련된 내용 보다는 본교에 대해 소개하려고 하는데요.
실제로 입학 상담 시 "WVC는 어디에 있는거에요?", "실제로 있는 대학교인가요?", "어느정도의 수준의 학교인가요?"라는 질문을 종종 듣습니다.
WVC 테솔 과정은 WVC 그리고 한국 영어교육 연구
가 및 직원들과 협력 운영하고 있습니다.
지난주에 실제로 WVC TESOL 한국지사 관계자들과 시애틀 동쪽 내륙에 위치한 Wenatchee Valley College 본교를 직접 방문했는데요.
캠퍼스 내부를 전체적으로 구경하고 본교 관계자 분들 그리고 총장님을 뵙고 왔습니다.
It is with great honor that I begin my tenure
as your 13th president of this amazing college.
During my most recent visit to the campus,
I enjoyed the opportunity to interact with students
and meet so many caring faculty, staff, administrators,
and board of trustee members committed
to holistic student achievement
and success on our Omak and Wenatchee campuses.
I am a passionate and collaborative educator
who leads with humility and courage.
I am eager to foster and build authentic, transparent,
and meaningful trustworthy relationships
with our campus and community stakeholders
as we advance WVC’s mission and strategic priorities.
Thus, part of my vision includes creating an inclusive,
safe, welcoming,
and empowering collective ownership environment
where all members of WVC and our community feel welcomed, valued,
embraced, celebrated, and can grow and thrive.
As a teacher, student, and scholar,
I am excited to be among so many talented
and exceptional students, faculty, and staff,
and to be accepted into our WVC Knights family!
Collectively, we will be the higher education institution
of choice for greater North Central Washington and beyond.

첫 설립일은 1939년이며 51명의 지역 주민들의 기부로 사립교육기관 시작되었고 1949년부터는 주립 교육 시스템으로 전환되었습니다.

무상에 가까운 교육비, 특히 유학생에게는 일반 대학교 학비의 1/3 수준으로 교육을 제공하고 있습니다.
또한 워싱턴주 내에 있는 워싱턴대, 시애틀대 등 모든 주립대 편입이 가능하며 타 대학교 입학 시 100% 학점 인정이 됩니다.
60여개의 준학사 과정과 bachelor 과정(간호학, 유아교육, 기술공학)을 운영 중인데 WVC에서는 4년제 학사 간호학 과정이 가장 유명하다고 합니다.
또한 영어교육자를 위한 테솔 Certificate 프로그램이 있는 유일한 대학교입니다.

Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
Wenatchee Valley College Continuing Education is currently offering TESOL certification online for Korean Educators. This 180-hour certificate program explores the concepts, approaches and teaching methods for language skills; listening, speaking, reading and writing. For more information visit wvctesol.com.
This program is currently only offered to Korean educators.
We hope to expand this program soon.

WVC 온라인 테솔 교육센터는 본교측 여러 관계자들과 주기적으로 미팅을 가지며 앞으로의 개선점 그리고 TESOL 과정 운영에 대한 전반적인 논의를 하고 있습니다.
테솔 과정 이외에도 다양한 ESL 프로그램을 연구하고 있으며 현재 운영 중인 어린이 테솔 TEC 과정, 영어수업실전편 등과 같은 한국형 영유아 영어교육을 위한 파닉스 관련 강의도 개발 중에 있습니다.
온라인의 장점을 극대화하고 단점을 최소화 하기 위해 테솔 장학생 및 합격생을 대상으로 오프라인 세미나도 주최할 예정입니다.
이렇게 국제영어교사 양성을 위한 여러가지 영어교육 과정들을 해외에 가지 않아도 온라인으로 충분히 공부할 수 있는 시스템을 만들기 위해 끊임없이 노력하고 있습니다.
